Cette photo de Renaud (co-fondateur de @nahaksports ) avec son duo canin composé de Nahak & Saka a été prise il y a 6 ans et a beaucoup d'histoire derrière elle !

C'était la première photo de bikejoring prise par notre ami @danieltphoto qui peut être fier de maintenant vivre entièrement de sa passion pour la photographie grâce à son talent et sa persévérance 🥳

Elle signifie aussi énormément pour nous puisqu'à l'époque Nahak Sports n'était pas encore fondé. Par contre, ce projet existait déjà bel et bien sous la forme d'une passion démesurée pour les chiens, l'univers des sports canins attelés et l'envie de partager cette passion aux autres.

Jamais nous n'aurions pensé que 6 ans plus tard une entreprise serait née de cette passion...et encore moins que celle-ci embaucherait plus d'une dizaine d'employés, fabriquerait l'entièreté de ses produits dans son atelier de 10 000 pc situé à Laurier-Station et distribuerait ses produits dans plus de 170 points de vente au Canada 🐶

Comme quoi, la passion et la persévérance peuvent nous amener loin dans la vie ☺️ - - - - - - || SOME HISTORY || This picture of Renaud (co-founder of Nahak Sports) with Nahak & Saka was taken 6 years ago and brings up a lot of memories.

It was the first picture of bikejoring ever taken by DanielTphoto and he can be proud to be where he is now : he lives from his passion thanks to his great talent and perseverance 🥳

This picture also means a lot for us because at this time Nahak Sports wasn't even an idea in our head but in some way it was already existing through our passion for dogs, dog harness sports and our desire to share our passion.

We would have never thought that 6 years later a business would be born from our passion...and couln't even imagine in our biggest dreams that this business would hire over 10 employees, manucfacture all products within its 10 000 square feet workshop in Laurier-Station (QC) and distributes dog harness gear in over 170 retailers in Canada 🐶

We were introduced to harness dog sports through a radio documentary about a recreational club in our area. They hosted and info session and we decided to attend. I assumed, like most people that harness sports was only big teams of dogs up north, when I learned about canicross and other mono-dog sports, I was hooked. Fast forward to today and we’re now a three dog (Pippy, Eddie & Asil) house. While canicross is my primary competitive discipline, I enjoy bikejoring, skijoring and sledding when the weather allows.
While Sarah loves to train and compete, her real passion in harness sports is to facilitate opportunities for others to discover and develop within the sport. At home in Halifax she started leveraged her business @dogrunnin , to take a relatively unknown sport to the region and begin a self-sustaining movement that now boosts, not just her own club, Club DogRunnin, but multiple competitive and recreational clubs in Atlantic Canada, a regional sport association, competitive regional races series. Sarah’s mentorship of local harness dog sport leaders continues to see teams and clubs grow across the region. With her sights focused nationally, Sarah serves as the president of the Canadian Association of Harness Dog Sports. Her desire is to see opportunities for people and their dogs to have the chance to practice our sports in community both recreationally and competitively everywhere in Canada. First time back for a bikejoring training last night, 3 weeks post my latest knee injections and it felt so good to be back 😍 Luna gave me a killer training for my first time back in training with her. I didn’t feel any pain which gives me a big boost of confidence. I will see my physio tomorrow to hopefully get the okay to race in MacGregor Point this weekend 🤞

Premier retour à l’entraînement de bikejoring hier soir, 3 semaines après mes dernières injections dans le genou et ça fait du bien d’être de retour 😍 Luna m’a donné un entraînement de feu pour mon retour. She might be small but she is mighty 🔥
Because I couldn’t do the bike with Luna this weekend because of my knee but we felt bad leaving her in the car and not racing the whole weekend, JC decided to register in the bikejoring sports class with no expectations. Man, Luna gave us her best bikejoring race ever on Saturday! Elle est peut être petite mais elle en veut 🔥 Parce que je ne pouvais pas faire la course de vélo avec Luna ce week-end à cause de mon genou mais qu’on se sentait mal de laisser Luna ne pas courser de tout le week-end, JC s’est inscrit en classe sport de bikejoring sans aucune attente. Et bah Luna nous a donné sa meilleure course de bikejoring samedi! We had so much fun this weekend racing and hanging out with some amazing friends! My dogs made me very proud, I couldn’t be happier!
Zip did absolutely amazing for his first race!! I am beyond proud! We placed 5th out of 26 in all breed one dog bikejor! He’s a very fast boy 😁 We just need to work on his directional commands and keeping speed on corners, but he has such great potential! I’m already excited for next season!
Zavala was so happy to race again! She had so much fun racing with my mom in canicross! Made my heart so happy to see her back to doing with she loves ♥️
Nova and Nax did also did great in two dog bikejor! They were a solid team and made me proud as usual 😊

C’est en 2013 que nous entrions tous les deux dans le monde des sports canins attelés et que, par le fait même, nous faisions connaissance. Dans le temps, nous n’étions pas vraiment amis et pour moi, Rémi c’était «Rémi le gars des courses». Deux ans plus tard, c’était devenu Rémi mon amoureux.
Pour ma part, ce sont des amis d’équitation qui m’ont initiée au canicross. Quelques années plus tard, alors que je vendais mon cheval, ce fut naturel de me diriger vers un autre sport où je pouvais faire équipe avec un animal. Pour Rémi, l’histoire est différente. La légende raconte qu’il eut un jour un coup de foudre pour une petite rescue de la SPCA de Québec et qu’elle devint rapidement sa meilleure amie. C’est donc par l’entremise de Mia qu’il commença à s’intéresser au canicross, une discipline dans laquelle leur duo excellait dès le tout début.

En 2015, on achetait nos premiers vélos afin de pouvoir pratiquer le bikejoring, on faisait des entraînements d’intervalles en course à pied et on cumulait les heures à jouer dehors avec la meute. C’est d’ailleurs cette même année que Rémi devenait champion canadien à Bristol Dryland. L’année 2016 fut également chargée en adrénaline alors que mon fidèle Oslo m’amena sur plusieurs podiums durant notre première saison à faire équipe ensemble.

Aujourd’hui, on peut définitivement dire qu’on ne serait pas les mêmes sans nos chiens. Grâce à eux, on fait de la course en sentiers, du vélo de montagne, de la randonnée, du ski de fond… et ce avec ou sans chiens! Toutefois, rien ne vaut une sortie en plein-air avec la meute qui compte désormais 4 membres à 4 pattes. (Suite dans les commentaires)...
